Job Overview at a Glance

LRQA is looking for an assessor for an excellent opportunity to work in a multinational organization, that is growing consistently and rapidly. The assessor will be reponsible for acting as a secondary assessor on responsible sourcing audits while he/she is studying to become certified as a lead assessor. In addition, the assessor will support report review in the region when not in the field. LRQA will support the assessors' training to becoming a fully qualified responsible sourcing assessor.

Responsibilities

  • Book travel in accordance with assigned schedule
  • Conduct an opening meeting with management outlining scope and client expectations
  • Interview management to understand facility practices
  • Conduct a facility walkthrough to observe facility practices
  • Review documentation that demonstrates practices
  • Interview workers (ideally in native language or with the use of a translator) in a sensitive but impartial way to verify and explore practices
  • Triangulate data across data sources to come to an informed conclusion on practices
  • Presenting results to facility management
  • Advise companies on ways to improve working conditions for workers
  • Write comprehensive reports in English for each assessment, in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide clients, facility, vendor, and fellow staff necessary clarifications on the audit results or the report in a professional, timely, and accurate manner
  • Finally, the candidate is expected to meet Key Performance Targets related to report turnaround time, report quality, and budget.
  • As a reviewer, they will be expected to support review and completion of reports for the lead assessors, including uploading to client data bases. 

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree in a major of Law, HR, Occupational Health and Safety or Environment /Advanced degree is preferred
  • Must have valid driver’s License (or ability to get one)
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time (once lead assessor this will move to 80% of the time)
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent Customer Service and results oriented
  • Effective problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English and Spanish
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Comfortable in various industries e.g. manufacturing, food & beverage
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet-research /reporting/analysis tools
  • Maintains a global perspective and is culturally sensitive and aware
  • Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
  • Comfortable with confrontation, with a diplomatic and easy demeanor
  • Ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment with persons of varying socio-economic status
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
