Overview

The Back‑End CMS Developer will play a pivotal role in owning, maintaining, and evolving the platform that powers LRQA’s global corporate website, delivered in more than 30 languages. This role is central to ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our digital presence, while continuously improving the underlying application and content delivery capabilities.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in C# MVC and enterprise‑grade CMS platforms, preferably Optimizely (Episerver). They will be a self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑moving environment, takes ownership of technical decisions, and proactively drives enhancements that improve user experience, operational efficiency, and long‑term maintainability. A willingness to learn Optimizely deeply is essential if prior experience is limited.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the back‑end architecture, performance, and reliability of the corporate website CMS platform.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality C# MVC components, integrations, and APIs.
  • Lead enhancements, upgrades, and transformation initiatives across the CMS ecosystem.
  • Collaborate closely with front‑end developers, designers, product owners, and content teams to deliver robust solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior developers, promoting best practices and technical excellence.
  • Ensure adherence to clean coding standards, secure development practices, and maintainable architecture.
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and Agile ceremonies, contributing to predictable delivery.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term fixes.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing clear updates, technical insights, and solution recommendations.

 

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements

  • Strong experience developing with C# MVC in enterprise environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with Optimizely (Episerver) CMS is highly preferred; similar C#‑based CMS experience considered.
  • Solid understanding of CMS concepts: content modelling, workflows, caching, templating, and localisation.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps for source control, pipelines, and work management.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and iterative delivery.
  • Experience with dependency injection, SOLID principles, and clean architecture patterns.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and practices (unit, integration, regression).
  • Understanding of performance optimisation, profiling, and scalable back‑end design.
  • Experience working with multi‑language, multi‑region websites.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, well‑documented code.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies—especially Optimizely if not already experienced.
