LRQA Seafood's Technical Managers are primarily responsible for ensuring the technical quality of services delivered by LRQA’s seafood team.
Core duties include:
- Ensuring the technical competence and performance of aquaculture and supply chain auditors, including by conducting technical and certification reviews and witness audits.
- Working with the Service Delivery Manager to contribute to the sourcing, onboarding, training, and performance review of auditors, and to address technical aspects of auditor performance including any required re-training.
- Be subject matter expert for seafood within LRQA, including externally as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and maintain professional statuses as required to deliver required core role functions, including auditing as required to maintain competence to perform core duties.
- May provide additional auditing capacity/cover but spending time auditing is not the core role of Technical Manager.
- Client relationship management for key seafood clients as required. Use sectoral knowledge to input into development and growth of LRQA seafood.
- Ensure reports, technical reviews and certification decisions are made within agreed KPIs.
- Develop relationships with scheme owners to keep up to date with scheme regulations, standard updates and other relevant communications.
- Any other duties as reasonably expected to effectively support the wider seafood business unit and organisation.
Qualifications
Required:
- Tertiary qualification relevant to seafood, the marine environment, fisheries, aquaculture or equivalent (e.g. aquaculture, marine biology, food science etc.).
- Minimum of 3 years’ industry experience relevant to seafood, the marine environment, fisheries, aquaculture, food processing or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year auditing experience in the food or seafood sectors. Industry recognised professional qualifications and including up-to-date knowledge within at least one environmental, food safety or aquaculture management system.
- High-level of industry knowledge and demonstrate a portfolio of sound practical experience gained by working in a variety of aquaculture or food processing environments.
- Knowledge of quality assurance schemes within food supply chains, including production and product conformity.
- Knowledge of auditing protocols within the food production sector.
- Awareness of food, social and environmental legislation, and industry Codes of Practice.
- Awareness of quality management systems, HACCP and GMP.
- A good level of spoken and written English.
- Well-organised with the ability to plan and schedule work effectively.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Analytical approach to work and excellent attention to detail.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
Desirable:
Prior experience of accredited certification schemes and auditing, particularly in aquaculture schemes specifically Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP). English is the working language for all Seafood Work.
