Role Purpose

Assess the design, manufacture and in-service aspects of engineering assets (specifically pressure equipment and pressure systems), using defined Codes, Standards, specifications, procedures and knowledge and experience appropriate for routine situations.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Perform design assessments of pressure equipment and pressure systems according to agreed specifications and standards.
  • Perform complex assessments, provide specialist advice/solution and training to internal/external clients, research or development work within agreed parameters including budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • Produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility to review and monitor other employees' work as requested.
  • Assess/recommend the time/value of work to be undertaken for an external client within an agreed fee/cost structure within the commercial aspect of the contract, and issue quotations up to an agreed limit and LRQA’s standard terms and conditions (e.g. commercial notice).
  • Discuss/present the deliverable with internal/external client at a senior level and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
  • Contribute to internal/external client management as appropriate by acting as point of contact to effectively manage client and LRQA relationships.

 

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements

  • Shall possess a relevant bachelor's degree from a recognised university or equivalent within the relevant field of engineering. An additional higher tertiary degree e.g. masters may is preferable.
  • Preferably a qualified member of a recognised professional body e.g. www.nspe.org, www.cae.cn, www.engc.org.uk, www.ecindia.org.  Likely to be working towards Chartered/Professional Engineer.
  • Shall possess sufficient relevant previous working experience to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the relevant specialist requirements, knowledge and application. Likely to have 4 to 8 years relevant working experience.
  • Experience in design /appraisal of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, piping and tanks.
  • Essential to have knowledge of application of appropriate national/international standards e.g. ASME, EN13445, PD5500, AS 1210, IBR.
  • Proficiency in the use of calculation software e.g. PVELITE, COMPRESS etc
  • Preferably working knowledge in the use of FEA software (ANSYS) and knowledge of design by analysis requirements.
  • Exposure to piping flexibility analysis and CAESAR software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as PED, DOSH -Malaysia, MOM-Singapore requirements preferred.
  • Proficiency in English language commensurate with the work (both written and verbal)
