The Opportunity
We are seeking experienced Food Safety Assessors to support a high‑profile UK retail and hospitality estate through second‑party food safety assessments. This role suits professionals operating at EHO / Food Safety Officer (FSO) standard, with strong practical experience in food safety enforcement, assurance, or multi‑site compliance activity.
You will carry out risk‑based assessments across a variety of food retail and hospitality operations, providing clear, evidence‑based findings and practical improvement insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured food safety assessments aligned to UK food law and recognised codes of practice
- Assess compliance against Food Standards Agency food hygiene requirements and internal brand standards
- Review food safety management systems, including HACCP‑based controls
- Identify non‑conformities and areas of risk, providing clear and proportionate feedback
- Produce accurate, timely and objective written reports
- Operate independently across multiple sites within the North West region
- Act professionally and consistently when engaging with site management teams
Essential Requirements
- Background operating at EHO / Food Safety Officer standard
- Substantial experience in one or more of the following:
- Local Authority food safety enforcement
- Food safety auditing or inspection
- Multi‑site retail or hospitality food safety management
- Strong working knowledge of:
- UK Food Law and FSA guidance
- HACCP principles
- Food hygiene rating scheme expectations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working autonomously and managing a regional schedule

Environmental Health degree or equivalent qualification

Chartered / Practitioner membership (e.g. CIEH or equivalent)

Experience conducting second‑party or brand auditsBackground working with large retail, supermarket or hospitality estates
- UK‑based with the ability to travel across Manchester and the North West
