Role
To contribute positively to the development and execution of the business strategy by playing a key role in setting direction, prioritising investment, managing risks and driving profitable growth. This will be done by providing financial and commercial leadership within the management team, challenging conventional wisdom and identifying opportunities to improve the [stream/function] competitive position.

The Finance Business Partner (FBP) will be highly commercial with a customer and market orientation, finding ways to do things differently (better, quicker, cheaper) with a focus on getting things done (outcome driven). Having a natural affinity with technology, data & analytics, the FBP will communicate and influence across and up the organisation to deliver [Stream/Function] objectives through the leadership of a wide stakeholder base.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

Business Partner to the [Stream/Function] Leadership Team

  • Act as true business partner to Regional FBP, providing support and challenge to the other functional leads in the management team
  • Provide constructive input into strategic business planning and commercial decision, such as prioritizing technology investments, allocating resources, identifying new partnerships, determining optimal staffing levels and expanding into new services or geographical locations
  • Providing strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance and new business opportunities
  • Provide Leadership to identify where enterprise value is lost and created from quote to cash collection
  • Understand the competitor and regulatory markets to identify external risks and realise opportunities.
  • Pro-actively support risk management, change and strategy processes.

P&L Responsibility / Reporting:

  • Create tools and frameworks to measure and manage commercial and operational performance in liaison with the Business Controller
  • Lead monthly business reviews with the operational areas providing challenge and support to Management
  • Lead and co-ordinate budgeting, forecasting and quarterly business reviews
  • Co-ordinate the annual review of the 5-year business plans
  • Accountability for the P&L and balance sheet reported, gaining assurance on its accuracy from the Business Controllers
  • Ensure robust financial control with focus on financial and management accounting, working capital, cash flow, cost control and investment appraisal. Where control is managed in a different team, the FBP needs to gain assurance that controls are effective

Business Improvement:

  • Monitor and drive performance supporting and challenging functional leaders and operational managers in the delivery of budgets
  • Identify, drive, deliver and monitor margin improvement and cost out plans and initiatives
  • Provide strong commercial support to contract negotiations, identifying pricing opportunities to drive top line growth and ensuring bids & tenders are profitable over the contract life cycle
  • Identify sources of revenue leakage and drive process simplification & efficiencies from Quote to Cash
  • Advise and implement on sales commission models and monitor sales performance.

Stakeholder Management & Engagement

  • Provide visible leadership in a matrix organisation with ability to identify and harness the necessary resources to help deliver the business goals of the stream
  • Manage stakeholders and processes outside of formal hierarchy – across the [Stream/Function] and wider business
  • Drives change across organisation and manages projects to successful delivery, through others
  • Hold the organisation / stakeholders accountable for commitments.

 

 Technical Requirements

  • Able to perform at the highest levels whilst also demonstrating the ability to be hands on when required.  The appointee will measure their success by results and will have the resilience and maturity to manage internal relationships in an organisation going through rapid change.
  • Qualified accountant (CPA/ACCA or CIMA) and currently operating at a senior finance level in a global organisation
  • Strong business partnering exposure
  • Ability to work effectively and successfully navigate in a matrixed organisation
  • Experience of international multi-site and multi-currency organisations
  • Experience of working across different nationalities and cultures
  • Experience of international multi-site commercial/operational activity
  • Ability to understand and assess complex and sometimes unfamiliar situations, visualise solutions and see through to resolution and work effectively within a matrix organisation.
