The Opportunity

We are seeking an Experienced Consultant to join our rapidly growing ESG Consulting team in Asia-Pacific. This role is pivotal in driving our regional growth, delivering high-impact solutions to our clients, and contributing to our thought leadership. Reporting to an (Associate) Director, the successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping our client engagements and expanding our market presence.

We are looking for a seasoned sustainability professional who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment and is motivated by the opportunity to significantly contribute to building and scaling an impactful consulting practice.

  • Seasoned/Experienced Professional: You possess expertise and a proven track record in sustainability consulting or in-house sustainability roles within an organisation, capable of leading complex engagements and providing guidance to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Client Engagement & Project Leadership (70%)
    • Lead and manage small to medium-size sustainability consulting projects from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables, client satisfaction, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
    • Act as a primary client contact, building and nurturing trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across diverse industries and functions, understanding their strategic needs and objectives.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of intricate business sustainability challenges, develop strategic recommendations, and oversee their effective implementation.
    • Design and execute rigorous, data-driven research and analysis to generate profound insights and inform client strategies.
    • Collaborate effectively with internal subject matter experts and external partners to leverage diverse expertise and deliver optimal client outcomes.
    • Present findings and recommendations to clients and executive stakeholders through compelling reports, workshops, and presentations.

 

  1. Business Development & Thought Leadership (15%)
    • Contribute significantly to business development activities, including identifying new opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and participating in client pitches.
    • Develop and publish thought leadership content (e.g., articles, white papers, webinars, presentations) to enhance LRQA's market presence and expertise.
    • Represent LRQA at industry events, conferences, and forums, expanding our network and influence.

 

  1. Practice Development & Mentorship (10%)
    • Actively contribute to the development of LRQA's consulting methodologies, tools, and service offerings.
    • Mentor and coach junior consultants, fostering their professional growth and contributing to a high-performing team culture.
    • Support internal initiatives ranging from training programs and product/service innovation to operational excellence.

 

  1. Operational Excellence (5%)
    • Ensure accurate and timely administration and utilization of LRQA's internal platforms and reporting systems.

 

Experience & Requirements

 

Required:

  • Minimum 4+ years of progressive professional experience in sustainability consulting, with a proven track record of leading significant client engagements.
  • Demonstrable expertise in a core area of business sustainability, such as Responsible Sourcing, ESG Due Diligence for Capital Projects, Social Compliance, Human Rights, Supply Chain Sustainability, ESG Strategy, ESG Reporting (e.g. ISSB,TCFD, GRI, etc.) or Climate Change.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin/Cantonese is essential.
  • Fluency in other key regional languages, such as Korean or Japanese, is highly valued to additional support our diverse APAC client base and regional growth strategy.
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, proficient in utilizing presentation and document creation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams while also working autonomously when required.
  • Superior project and task management skills, capable of overseeing multiple complex projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Capacity and willingness to work across different time zones and to hold meetings outside of regular local working hours to accommodate global teams and clients.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience within a high-growth consulting firm or a rapidly scaling business unit.
  • Experience in supply-chain sustainability, including risk assessment, due diligence, sustainability reporting and supplier engagement.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, including expert-level Excel skills.
  • A relevant advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master's in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Human Rights).
  • Primary location: Hong Kong; also considering strong candidates based outside Hong Kong.
