The Role

As a Senior Verifier you will be responsible for assessing, validating, and verifying sustainability related data to ensure organisations comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards. This role will require strong data analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex environmental reports, and experience in validating energy consumption and carbon emissions data.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting independent verification of sustainability and carbon-related data, ensuring its accuracy and compliance with industry frameworks.
• Reviewing and analysing large datasets to assess an organisation’s carbon footprint, energy usage, and overall environmental impact.
• Assessing compliance with environmental and sustainability regulations, including ESG reporting requirements, national carbon reduction initiatives, and industry-specific sustainability programs.
• Interpreting and applying environmental regulations, carbon reporting standards, and industry best practices to the verification process.
• Providing independent assurance statements on sustainability reports, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and energy performance.
• Liaising with clients to clarify verification requirements, gather supporting documentation, and ensure a smooth and efficient verification process.
• Preparing detailed verification reports, summarising findings, and making recommendations for improvement where necessary.
• Engaging with internal teams to ensure continuous improvement of verification methodologies and client support processes.
• Keeping up to date with emerging regulations, industry trends, and developments in sustainability verification.

Senior Verifier Key Skills & Experience:

• A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Change, or similar scientific or a related field.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with experience working with large datasets, energy usage metrics, and carbon footprint analysis.
• Previous experience in verifying or validating energy consumption, carbon emissions, or sustainability metrics for organisations.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, carbon reporting standards (such as GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, SECR, TCFD), and ESG frameworks.
• Attention to detail with the ability to critically evaluate complex sustainability data and documentation.
• Strong communication and client relationship management skills, with experience engaging with stakeholders at various levels.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting systems is advantageous but not essential.
