Role Purpose

 

This role will act as the Technical & Quality Governance focal point for Pressure Equipment (i.e. that covered by PED and SPVD) leading EC and UKCA regulatory activities relating to pressure equipment and for the Technical & Quality Governance for LRQA Apave.  Delivering high quality customer experience, safely to our clients, service delivery teams, service delivery support, sales teams, other members of Technical & Quality Governance and Leadership teams and clients. (Note : This role supports but does not lead with the ASME business)

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The role manages accreditations relating to pressure equipment for UK and Netherlands accreditations.  As part of pro-active accreditation management, the role shall actively participate in relevant pressure committees to ensure that LRQA can anticipate and plan for regulatory changes.  The role is required to collaboratively support internal and external audits, manage the technical community relating to Pressure, participate in TQG meetings and projects designed to ensure that TQG effectively supports the business. Delivering a proactive, professional and efficient support service excelling in quality excellence by providing Pressure technical and quality leadership for all surveyors across the business, specifically:-

 

•                  To provide technical and quality support to internal and external customers regarding the delivery of Pressure Equipment inspection services.

•                  To provide oversight and governance of the service delivery processes and procedures.

•                  To provide technical and quality support to the business for new. applications or expanded accreditations, approvals and authorisations.

•                  In collaboration with key stakeholders, contribute to the concept design and assessment of viability of potential new services

 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

 

  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution: preferred Chartered Engineer (or national equivalent), or actively working towards such qualification – degree qualified with solid industry experience, and substantial experience relevant to the pressure equipment industry.
  • Experienced in taking a technical lead in providing authoritative advice, guidance, and arbitration on technical matters both internally and externally.
  • Good communication skills and fluent in English are essential and the ability to lead the technical support group, manage regulatory audits, write procedures and technical guidance documents, mentor other surveyors within LRQA and represent the business to clients and on technical committees at a senior level.
  • To perform complex assessments and provide advice for service delivery within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • To develop technically other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • Good organisational skills to ensure that projects and tasks are completed on time.
  • Auditing skills (internal & external) and being Audited.
  • Global role – available to travel to support the business.
