The Technical Quality & Governance function work to ensure that LRQA has the appropriate global licenses to operate its business.  This is achieved by ensuring that our quality management system, accreditations, technical competencies and technical support are governed correctly per the LTO standards, specifically ISO 9/14/45k and the ISO 17000 standards.  The TQG team are also responsible to ensure that complaints are fairly considered from SME’s, to support internal technical investigations, to support the marketing team for product development launch to ensure that global services can be delivered to customers consistently and repeatedly aligned to external regulatory or delivery requirements

 

The Head of Technical & Product Governance is responsible to ensure that the Technical Governance Team provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Product/Scheme ownership support to the business.

What will you do?

  • Lead the technical governance function to ensure that required standards are maintained and aligned to local and global strategic and commercial needs.
  • Monitoring performance against standards and procedures to draw out potential issues and making recommendations to continually raise our standards
  • Ensuring LRQA’s licence to operate is maintained by providing SME input to the effective accreditation management with external bodies
  • Own product risk management, ensuring that product review programmes are established by Sector Technical Specialists and completed, product balance scorecards are established & maintained
  • Establishment of steering groups for global LRQA products, ensuring that groups are functioning effectively to deliver product and scheme requirements, performance is managed, team sites are maintained, support the wider business goals and help to define scheme CPD criteria.
  • Establish and promote a high-end quality culture within the LRQA Group
  • Monitor performance against standards and procedures to draw out potential issues to make recommendations to continually raise our standards.
  • Share knowledge and industry best practice with service delivery, service delivery support and sales teams to build and maintain our technical focus and integrity globally
  • Represent LRQA business interests with external accreditation standards and sector schemes to build and maintain a strong network and credibility across the industry
  • Act as a point of escalation and reference for unresolved 3rd party complaints, certification disputes and accreditation / sector scheme non-conformities, ensuring they are resolved using LRQA processes and timescales
  • Establish and develop a commercial mind-set and culture through leading and coaching the technical governance community, to support business growth and diversity within LRQA
  • Collaborate and communicate with departments cross stream and globally, to ensure consistency with the development and delivery of our global services and customer experience
  • Lead, manage and develop team members to build capacity and capability through recruitment, performance management, talent/succession planning, training and development to build and sustain a high-performance culture.  Drive and encourage direct reports to do the same with their teams.
  • Identify new industry trends and support development of new services in conjunction with Sales & Marketing

 

What will you bring?

  • Chartered Engineer with significant relevant industry experience
  • Significant management experience within a technical area of specialism preferably in an international, B to B, professional services environment
  • Experience in driving major change, risk management initiatives and building technology readiness within a global environment
  • A wide breadth and depth of knowledge of project management with proven skills in dealing with medium to high complexity and medium to high-risk key client facing projects through the strategic management of multidiscipline teams
  • Experience in implementing sound people management and creating a high performing and commercially focussed organisation.
